Welcome to Morningside Elementary – A Proud LAUSD Community School!

Dear Morningside Families,

It is with great joy and gratitude that I welcome you to a brand-new school year at Morningside Elementary, home of the Monarch Lions! Whether your family is returning or joining us for the first time, we are so excited to have you as part of our community.

This year, we are proud to announce that Morningside is now officially recognized as a Community School! This is an exciting step forward in our journey to serve the whole child by connecting students and families with the tools, relationships, and supports they need to thrive—both inside and outside of the classroom.

As a Community School, we are committed to a model rooted in equity, collaboration, and community partnership. This model centers around four key pillars that guide everything we do:

🧩 Integrated Student Supports
We work to remove barriers to student success by connecting children and families to essential resources, service providers, and holistic programs. We strive to make sure that students and families are fully supported—so every child can focus on learning and growing.

📚 Expanded and Enriched Learning Time and Opportunities
Ensuring there are learning opportunities that augment traditional learning. From mentoring and tutoring to enrichment clubs and field learning, we are creating spaces where students can explore, engage, and shine—at every point in their day.

🤝 Family and Community Engagement

Strong communication and active participation from families and the community are essential to student success. We are building stronger connections with parents, caregivers, and community organizations—while embracing strategies like community organizing to drive meaningful improvements across our school and LAUSD. You are not just part of our school—you are a voice in shaping its future.

🌟 Collaborative Leadership and Practice
At Morningside Elementary, leadership is shared. Our educators, staff, families, and community members work together, sharing decision-making and responsibility. With mutual accountability and a shared vision, we are building a culture of trust, teamwork, and transparency.

We continue to prioritize academic excellence, social-emotional learning, and a safe, inclusive environment for all students. Our incredible team of educators is ready to deliver instruction aligned with the California State Standards while making learning fun, engaging, and relevant to each child's needs and strengths.
