Principal's Message

Dear Morningside families,

Welcome to the 2022 - 2023 school year! It is with great enthusiasm that I introduced myself as your new principal, Mrs. Alvarez. I am honored to join and serve the Morningside Community.

I have been dedicated to the field of education for the last 21 years. I started teaching in elementary school and the Pico-Union area in Central LA and have since worked in different communities of the San Fernando Valley. I am thrilled to come back and serve as an educational leader in the city of San Fernando. I have held various positions such as elementary teacher, intervention coordinator, TSP/ CPA Coordinator, Title III Instructional coach and Assistant Principal. I am excited to utilize these experiences to collaborate with others and partner with you to help your child reach their greatest potential.

On a personal note I was born and raised in Sun Valley and attended LAUSD schools from elementary to high school. I am married and have two wonderful daughters, my youngest is in 4th grade and my oldest is in 6th grade. We also have two doggies that we adore. My family, colleagues and friends are what centers me and reminds me of my purpose in public education; to be an advocate for quality education for all students.

 I am in this role to provide children a positive schooling experience but it certainly takes a village. I encourage you to become involved in every way possible. I look forward to working in partnership with you to help your child reach academic and social emotional achievement.

In closing, I heartily welcome your conversation and input throughout this year. Working together, we can keep our students the primary focus of our work.
